Happy New Year… I think

We humans are a strong and resourceful breed. We are persistent and we work hard to accomplish our goals. We rely on each other, our friends, family, neighbors, even strangers. This year has been harder than most in recent history. Without the close contact we are used to we have had to learn how to live apart from our loved ones. We’ve had to learn not to shake hands or hug each other. Social distancing is a common phrase in our vocabulary. Some of us have trained ourselves how to work from home. Others have been standing on the front lines, as if in battle.

That battle: to save lives, not destroy. We have many heroes among us. Not only are they hard working, determined people, they are courageous in their efforts to help others. You know who they are. Thank them by showing them you care. It’s a very simple task we can do. Stay home, wear a mask when you need to leave home.

In this New Year of 2021 let’s find the strength to keep moving forward. We have a bit longer to endure this new lifestyle.

This new lifestyle can sometimes get a person down. So don’t feel sad about the isolation, we humans have created many ways to communicate with each other over the years. Take the time to call a loved one and wish them well. Try a video chat, a zoom call or try a new app. Catch up with old friends on the phone or, do the old-fashioned thing, write a letter and send it in the mail. We can all keep up with each other’s lives this way. When the battle with this virus is over, we will come out on the other side even stronger and more resourceful then we already were. Like I said, we are human.
