Remote Learning Barriers

Not only are we are grappling with a pandemic, which affects us all, students are suffering without the help of the traditional in-class benefits. Remote learning is a huge barrier proving to have a devastating effect on those without internet access.

As schools across our nation have worked hard to create an online learning environment, they are aware that those without internet access will have huge hurdles to jump when integrating back into post pandemic learning.

We now see in our world today that everyone needs a new necessity, the internet. Teachers assign homework that requires the use of the internet. Students complete homework using the internet. Schools are expecting parents to log on to view grades or see their child’s progress. So, what happens to the children and families without access. They will fall behind. The achievement gap will continue to grow.

There are some solutions out there like having free Wi-Fi access on school buses. Programs from various organizations help but nothing has eliminated the gap left for millions of kids with no internet access.
